General Election 2024 Events and Information
In previous years, Manor Community has aimed to support people in social care to exercise their right to vote. The general election on 4th July 2024 is a great opportunity to continue that support.
We are aiming to hold events across our services which will support people to participate in this year's general election. This webpage will be updated as new information on our activities in this area becomes available. So please check back here from time to time for updates.
When they become available, below you will find:
- a link to view and download our election information handbook
- a poster of all the events occurring in June 2024 in preparation for the election on 5th July 2024
- posters for individual services activities
We will be holding a series of voting workshops for the people we support and their family and friends but we are also opening these up to local people especially those who use or work in care services. Please join one of our sessions where you can enjoy food, drinks, election bingo, get support to register to vote, listen to music and more.
Mental Capacity and the Right to Vote
Our article in Community Care about the right to vote
In 2017 our director wrote an article about the right to vote, specifically covering the misconception that a mental capacity assessment is required for a person to vote. Please access and share it here: https://www.communitycare.co.uk/2017/05/25/social-care-service-promoting-right-vote/
