An exciting tour of the Houses of Parliament

We are bursting with pride and excitement to share some wonderful news with you all: tomorrow, nine of the amazing people we support will be taking part in the Democratic Access Tour, visiting the Houses of Parliament!

This is such a special opportunity, and one that we know will mean so much to everyone involved. For many of the people we support, a visit like this isn't something that comes along every day. To walk through the halls where the laws of our country are debated and decided, to see the iconic Elizabeth Tower up close, and to stand in a place so rich with history, it's the kind of experience that creates memories to last a lifetime.

At Manor Community, we believe passionately that everyone deserves the chance to explore new places, try new experiences, and feel like a valued part of the wider world, regardless of age, ability, or circumstance. Trips like this aren't just a nice day out; they're about dignity, inclusion, and showing the people we support that their curiosity and their voices matter, just as much as anyone else's.

Parliament is, in many ways, the ultimate symbol of democracy and representation. The Democratic Access Tour was created to open that space up to people who might not otherwise get the chance to visit, and we're thrilled that our residents will be part of it. Bringing them into that space sends a powerful message: everyone belongs here.

The group will have the chance to:

  • Explore the historic corridors and chambers of the Palace of Westminster
  • Learn about the fascinating history of UK democracy
  • Perhaps meet with a local MP or member of the House of Lords
  • Take in the breath-taking architecture and atmosphere of one of the most famous buildings in the world

Our wonderful staff team will be there every step of the way, making sure everyone feels comfortable, supported, and able to enjoy the day at their own pace. None of this would be possible without the dedication of our incredible staff, who work tirelessly to plan outings like this and make sure they're accessible and enjoyable for everyone. A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising this trip, your hard work is what makes moments like this possible.

We also want to say a heartfelt thank you to the residents themselves, for their enthusiasm and excitement, which honestly makes all the planning worthwhile.

We can't wait to share photos and stories from the big day once it happens! Keep an eye on our blog and social media pages for updates. We know this is going to be a trip that everyone will be talking about for weeks to come.

Here's to new experiences, new memories, and to nine very lucky (and very deserving) people taking part in the Democratic Access Tour.
