Care Home Open Week | June 2026

There's something magical that happens when a microphone gets passed around a room full of people. Nerves melt away, smiles appear, and suddenly even the quietest corners come alive with laughter and song. That's exactly what happened here this Care Home Open Week and we wouldn't trade it for anything.

What Is Care Home Open Week?

Care Home Open Week is a fantastic annual event that invites families, friends, and the wider community to come through our doors, see what life here is really like, and celebrate the wonderful people who call this place home. It's a chance to break down barriers, spark conversations, and show the world that care homes are vibrant, joyful communities. This year, we decided to mark the occasion with something a little different and a whole lot of fun.  The Big Karaoke Session!

When we announced we'd be hosting a karaoke afternoon, the reactions were brilliant. Some residents were immediately lining up to perform. Others were sceptical arms folded, eyebrows raised, firmly insisting they "don't sing." (Spoiler: they sang.)

We set up the room with a proper microphone stand, a big screen full of song choices, and enough enthusiasm to fill a concert hall. Families, staff, residents, and visitors all came together, and the atmosphere was electric from the very first song.

The setlist was wonderfully eclectic. There were classic hits from the 60s and 70s, a few timeless ballads that had everyone reaching for a tissue (in the best possible way), and at least one very spirited rendition of a well-known pop anthem that brought the house down entirely.

Why Moments Like This Matter

It's easy to think of care homes as places where things slow down. But days like this remind us and everyone who walks through our doors, that life here is full, rich, and joyful.

Karaoke isn't just entertainment. It's connection. It's the resident who rediscovers a love of music they hadn't felt in years. It's a family member seeing their loved one laugh out loud. It's a member of staff and a resident sharing a duet and neither being quite sure who's more off-key.

These are the moments we cherish. These are the moments that matter.

A Huge Thank You

To everyone who joined us this Care Home Open Week - thank you. To our residents for being so wonderfully game, to families for cheering them on, and to our brilliant staff for making the whole thing happen: you are what makes this place special every single day.

Until next year, the microphone is (temporarily) back in its case. But the memories? Those will last much longer.

🎵 "Don't stop believin'..." and we certainly won't.

Want to find out more about life here or arrange a visit? We'd love to hear from you.
