Getting out and about
Across our homes, residents have been lacing up their shoes and heading out to enjoy some of the beautiful parks and green spaces nearby. These walks have been a wonderful way to get some gentle exercise, breathe in the fresh air, and take in the natural surroundings. Dappled light through tree-lined avenues, open fields, and the simple pleasure of being outside.
Walks like these are about so much more than the physical benefits. They give residents a real sense of independence, adventure, and connection with the world beyond the front door. Watching everyone stride out together, at their own pace, is a joy to see.
All aboard the steam trains
One of the most exciting outings recently was a visit to see the steam trains. We took one of our lovely residents and he had a brilliant time taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of these magnificent engines up close. It brought back wonderful memories for him.
There is something truly magical about a steam train in full flow, and the excitement on the day was infectious. It was a fantastic outing and a reminder of how much a change of scenery and a shared adventure can mean to everyone involved, residents and carers alike.
Smoothie making
For something a little more hands-on, residents have been getting creative with the blender. Smoothie making sessions have been a hit, with residents toasting their creations and enjoying the fruits (quite literally) of their labour. These sessions encourage the people we support to engage with healthy eating in an enjoyable, sociable way. Cheers all round!
Looking ahead
With summer well and truly here, there is lots more in store across our homes. We are committed to keeping our communities active, connected, and full of life no matter the season. A huge thank you to all the dedicated staff who make these moments possible, and of course to the brilliant residents who throw themselves into everything with such enthusiasm.
Watch this space for more updates soon. We have a feeling the best is yet to come.
